Recognising in-house innovation, quality and excellence

For 30 years, The Legal 500 has been analysing the capabilities of law firms across the world. In a new series, The Legal 500, in collaboration with Legal Business, GC Magazine and The In-house Lawyer, is turning its attention to the in-house function, and recognizing those corporate counsel who are driving the legal business forward.

The GC Powerlist is a series of publications, highlighting the most influential in-house lawyers in business today. The latest editions to be published are China, Germany, India Teams, Russia, Central America Teams, Central and Eastern Europe and Brazil Teams.

How can YOU be involved?

We would like law firm partners and in-house counsel to nominate corporate counsel that have been instrumental in:

  • changing or forming opinions within their company or industry
  • have developed brilliant technical solutions to complex issues
  • created innovative structures to ensure that the in-house function is driving the business forward
  • provided a business working model that other corporate counsel should follow

Our team of experienced researchers will assess the nominations, and will speak to both general counsel and nominating-lawyer on the long-list to finalise each jurisdictional list. The final editorial will feature not just information on why that individual has made the list, but also comment from the law firms about how they feel individual corporate counsel have helped shape innovation in the legal industry.

Building on the research already carried out for The Legal 500, we will speak to key partners at the leading law firms and in-house counsel across the globe, to identify the most powerful corporate legal advisers. Individuals will not be ranked in order of preference, or by quotas according to industry sectors. The final lists will simply highlight the best that the in-house market has to offer.
