Clyde & Co LLP

The sizeable Mainland China insurance team at Clyde & Co LLP advises domestic, regional and global clients on a range of both contentious and non-contentious insurance matters. The group’s expertise covers coverage issues, disputes, claims, and corporate and commercial matters, along with advisory and regulatory work. In Shanghai, China insurance and dispute resolution practice head Ik Wei Chong assists insurance companies with policy issues, as well as claims involving credit risks, product liability issues, errors and omissions, and property and business interruption insurance. At legal director level, Christian Liu also acts in significant insurance disputes. The firm is further able to provide both onshore and offshore services, as a result of its PRC joint law venture with local law firm Westlink Partnership, where Victor Yang is particularly active in contentious insurance-related work, including matters concerning professional indemnity, directors and officers, financial lines, product liability, and personal injury and property claims.

Norton Rose Fulbright‘s China insurance practice provides advice on non-contentious matters across the insurance and reinsurance spectrum. The practice encompasses assistance with business establishment issues and strategic investments, along with commercial, corporate and M&A matters. Other key areas of strength are data privacy and cybersecurity, directors’ and officers’ insurance, insurtech, licensing, compliance, and warranty and indemnity insurance. The China insurance practice is led by Shanghai-based Ai Tong, who was raised to partner level in January 2023. Tong’s experience includes advising on both transactions and regulatory matters that involve investments in China by foreign financial institutions, including insurers, reinsurers and insurance intermediaries.
