Mills & Reeve LLP‘s pensions practice is namely led from Birmingham. From the firm’s Norwich office, consultant and pensions specialist Laura Sayer is the key name; Sayer sits on both the panel for the East Anglia Committee of the Pensions Management Institute and on the public sector sub-committee of the Association of Pension Lawyers. She is a key adviser to both public and private sector clients, and notably recently acted for Trustees of the Hypoguard (UK) Limited Pension Plan on complex negotiations with the overseas parents of the UK sponsor.   • Advised the Trustee of four defined benefit schemes on a large scale project that will result in the buy-in of the liabilities of all of the schemes.
  • Advised the Trustee of the Tindle Newspapers Limited Pension Schemes on repayment of an underpayment of benefits arising out of the equalisation of pension benefits dating back to the 1990s.
  • Advised a consortium of NHS Trusts in respect of a new proposal to allow employees to split their contracts into two in order to reduce the level of contributions paid to the NHS Pension Scheme.
