With offices in both London and Buenos Aires, international arbitration boutique Dechamps International Law was founded in 2018 by ex-Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP counsel, Jean Paul Dechamps, an international arbitration specialist with extensive experience in investment and commercial disputes in Latin America and other emerging markets.
Focusing exclusively on international arbitration and international law, Gaillard Banifatemi Shelbaya Disputes was launched in London in early 2021 (in addition to New York and Paris offices) by former Shearman & Sterling LLP practitioners Ximena Herrera-Bernal, a Latin American and Iberian disputes expert; and Tsegaye Laurendeau, who focuses on M&A, investment funds, international financing and joint venture disputes.
During 2021, Switzerland-based law firm LALIVE recruited commercial arbitration specialist and former Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom (UK) LLP counsel Genevieve Poirier, as partner for its 2018-launched London office, which also fields experienced London and Zürich-based international arbitration partner Marc Veit, as well as, since summer 2023, Nicholas Lawn.
Litigation boutique Pallas Partners LLP was launched in early 2022, one of its early hires being highly experienced arbitration advocate and partner Will Hooker from Boies Schiller Flexner (UK) LLP.
Former Allen & Overy LLP international arbitration associate Uliana Cooke, a commercial and investment treaty arbitration specialist, joined PCB Litigation as partner in February 2021, before it merged two months later with Byrne and Partners to become dispute resolution-only firm PCB Byrne.
Launched in 2020 by former Herbert Smith Freehills LLP practitioners, Simon Bushell and Gareth Keillor, specialist disputes firm Seladore Legal covers major arbitrations, particularly LCIA cases, as well as arbitral challenges before the English courts.
Taylor Wessing LLP's international arbitration group features both Nick Storrs, who routinely acts in heavyweight and multi-jurisdictional disputes; and December 2021 recruit, Karel Daele, the former arbitration head at Mishcon de Reya LLP.
Acting for both states and investors in investment treaty arbitration proceedings, disputes practice Vail Dispute Resolution was established in 2019 by arbitration specialist Tomas Vail, a former White & Case LLP senior associate.
