Hogan Lovells International LLP has a team of highly specialised experts covering everything under the trade finance banner. The practice led by Andrew Taylor and David Leggott has vast experience in everything from traditional instruments, such as letters of credit and bills of exchange- to highly structured pre-export finance trades, limited recourse prepayment structures, borrowing base financings and reserve-based lending. A key adviser to DFIs, commercial banks, and alternative lenders, the firm has a global trade finance practice in which London is the central hub. Leggott, who frequently advises banks and trading companies on deals in emerging markets such as sub-Saharan Africa, CIS, and Latin America, is well-versed in the workings of commodities markets, notably oil, steel, zinc, copper, soybeans, coffee, sugar tobacco, and cocoa. He recently advised IFC on a $500m facility for Citibank in Mexico as the first step in a $2bn sustainable emerging markets supply chain finance programme. Taylor, who leads the firm’s our global trade and export finance practice, assisted the European Commission with its multi-year, multi-deal guarantee programmes to support lending and investment in emerging markets. At the junior level, Oliver Travers, Sidrah Shah and Simon Cowell provide strong support to the lead partners.
