Von Wobeser y Sierra, SC is a first port of call for major multinationals and leading domestic corporations seeking merger clearance and regulatory approval for cross-border acquisitions and M&A transactions. The team’s advisory practice is enhanced by its strong focus on compliance, which sees it conduct antitrust audits to ensure risk mitigation and also design tailored compliance programs for clients. The group is equally as strong on cartel practice investigation matters and the abuse of dominance cases; it is currently handling active COFECE investigations in the digital and financial market segments. Fernando Carreño co-heads the group and is a heavily sought-after practitioner for antitrust investigations. Sergio López serves as co-lead of the team and can draw on lengthy experience at Mexico’s competition authority to tackle the most complex antitrust mandates. Counsel Michel Llorens focuses on complex merger notifications and leniency program applications. Former associate Mónica Cabeza de Vaca moved in house as compliance manager at Visa (Mexico) in May 2025. Since publication, Llorens has been raised to the partnership - effective as of January 2026.
