Acting as co-lead counsel representing Kloosterboer International Forwarding LLC and Alaskan Reefer Management LLC in challenging governments’ issuance of approximately $400m in fines and threatened additional fines of more than $1.5bn for violation of the Jones Act, a federal statute that effectively provides an exemption to the Sherman Act and the Clayton Act by prohibiting foreign vessels from competing with U.S. vessels in U.S. coastwise trade.
