Vinson & Elkins LLP has experienced considerable growth in its restructuring practice, expanding from its solid base of energy clients. It remains a dominant force in energy sector restructurings, though is now active across the retail, telecoms, real estate, healthcare, shipping and many other industries. Its fast growing private equity client base has also brought it a wealth of restructuring mandates, particularly for portfolio companies, while it remains strong in creditor-side representations, including for banks and alternative lenders. It advised Ares as the mezzanine lender of Mainstream Renewable Power in connection with the complex restructuring of a major renewable power project in Chile. David Meyer is head of the restructuring and reorganization group, and has led many of the firm’s recent restructuring engagements. George Howard is another experienced restructuring specialist, along with Paul Heath  in Houston. Named individuals are based in New York unless stated otherwise.
